- Esta tesis coloca el tema de museos comunitarios a la luz de la museología, la ética de museos y los derechos humanos de pueblos indígenas. Para lograr eso, lo primero fue abordar el museo público tradicional para así tratar sobre su historia y la definición de museo comunitario. Los principios éticos del museo se discuten después y en considerada extensión y profundidad, también los derechos de pueblos indígenas, junto con reclamos sobre su propio patrimonio. Después de esto, se discuten cuatro casos de estudio de museos comunitarios en México. En la última parte, la práctica y la teoría se combinan junto con la pregunta de investigación, ¿cómo pueden los museos comunitarios de Mexico beneficiarse y a la vez contribuir a la museología, la ética de museos y los debates sobre derechos humanos indígenas?. También hay una sección sobre la responsabilidad que los científicos y profesionales locales y extranjeros tienen para las comunidades indígenas y sus museos comunitarios.
