The Hinterland as a factor in economic growth during the Dutch Golden Age 1570-1750

The importance of the Hinterland as a factor in economic growth of the economy of the Dutch Republic. Analysed three sectors; Peat, Windmill and Agriculture, to calculate the level of social savings these highly productive sectors were capable of upholding in order to argue that the modern level of economic growth is for a large part caused by the economy of the Hinterland. This in contrast to the overly emphasized importance of trade and commerce in traditional Dutch history.
