Presidential Foreign Policy Decision-Making: Obama and the Compromises on Afghanistan

This thesis discusses the influencing factors on the foreign policy decision-making process of Obama on Afghanistan. Obama wanted to fight terrorism through the war in Afghanistan, instead of the war in Iraq that George W. Bush started. However, many factors contributed to the outcome of the New Strategy wherein Obama compromised on his war by promising to withdraw troops from Afghanistan from 2011 onwards.
