Suppressing the Relationship Between Uncertainty and Job Satisfaction: A Replication Study in Italy

In the present study, we challenged the findings of a prior study by further investigating the relationship between uncertainty and job satisfaction. More specifically, we investigated the role of social identity suppression within this relationship. While previous studies found supporting evidence for multiple unidirectional relationships between these variables, the prior study found no significant mediation effect in its Dutch sample. The authors attributed this finding to the generally higher levels of job satisfaction in the Netherlands. In our study we determined the levels of suppression of social identity, uncertainty, and job satisfaction among 125 Italian employees.
