Countering Radicalisation by Engaging Mosques and Imams: The UK’s Case

Radicalisation in the West is a growing problem, especially with the increasing number of foreign fighters going to Syria to fight with ISIS. This thesis aims to provide a unique insight into the UK's attempt at engaging mosques and imams as a counter-terrorism initiative. The Mosques and Imams National Advisory Board (MINAB) was created in order to engage mosques throughout Britain to tackle a common enemy. This thesis investigates this organisation and provides a detailed analysis of its successes and failures, along with policy recommendations on how to deal with radicalisation in the West.
