What role has the European Central Bank played during the European Sovereign Debt Crisis?

This thesis analyses the behaviour of the European Central Bank during the sovereign debt crisis. It argues that the ECB deviated in some key aspects from the expected behaviour of central banks, in particular in its role as a lender of last resort.
