Drawing the Dutch-Indonesian Past: Representations of colonial identity in the works of Peter van Dongen

In this thesis I aim to explore how Rampokan and Familieziek explore Dutch-Indonesian identities as a racially mixed identity and how past and present discourses on race and Whiteness can help to reflect on the two works and their representation of colonial identity. I do this with concepts such as Blankness and Hybridity whilst also paying specific attention to the comics' visual depiction and clear line style.
