Gauging Gravity through Differential Geometry

We cover Kibble’s theory of gravitation as a gauge theory in the language ofdifferential geometry. This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part we coverthe theory of Lie Groups, Fibre Bundles and Connections. In the second part weapply these concepts to physics. We start by giving a mathematical description ofclassical field theory and cover examples on U(1)and SU(2)gauge theory. In thefinal chapter we cover Kibble’s 1961 paper on gauging the Poincar ?e group and wereinterpret his constructions through the lens of differential geometry.
