Hyponomic Poetics: In Search of the Lost Sky Beyond a Political Ceiling

This thesis proposes to critically reassess the use of the term ‘subaltern’ by examining its intellectual genealogy and suggesting an alternative framework that de-emphasises the political dimension in favour of the human drive towards meaningful existence. This alternative framework is then applied in a case study of the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish.
