Greenwashing colonialism: Indigenous voices in green energy development

This master’s thesis is an exploration of the contradictions in sustainability of green energy production. SunZia Wind and Transmission project on Tohono O’dham lands in present day Arizona funtions as a case study to highlight the settler colonial structures and systems that enable developments on Indigenous lands without collaboration. Simultaneously, the exploration of this project emphasizes how developments that reach operational stage continue to fortify the very same structures. This project aims for dialogue on issues of democracy, sovereignty, and environmental injustice regarding the green shift.
