Echoes of the Past: Archaising features in the decoration of Late Period temples

This thesis discusses the occurrence of archaising features in the decoration of Late Period temples and how this differs from the funerary context. The first chapter provides a discussion on the broader phenomenon of archaism before and during the Late Period. The second, third, and fourth chapters are dedicated to the analysis of the available Late Period temple material. This selection of material is used to show that, while the temple decoration certainly shows archaising tendencies, the shape in which this occurs is very much different from what we see in the funerary context from the same period.
