The Rhetoric of a Self-Proclaimed Misogynist: Analysing Anti-Women Values in Andrew Tate’s X Posts.

Misogyny, sexism, and hegemonic masculinity are recurring discourses in the posts of self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate. With a following of 10.7 million people on X (formerly Twitter), Tate possesses a wide-reaching platform to disseminate his worldview. This study investigates the anti-women values present in his original posts from October 1st, 2024 to April 1st, 2025, through a Feminist Critical Discourse Analysis (FCDA). In addition to identifying the presence of misogyny, sexism, and hegemonic masculinity, the analysis identifies several rhetoric strategies. Additionally, the narrative of ‘’us versus them’’ was explored, constructing women as the out-group. The findings suggest that Tate operated both as an indicator of existing patriarchal values and as an activator who reinforces and spreads these ideologies through digital discourse. Tate’s continued visibility despite previous platform bans underscores systemic shortcomings in addressing online gender-based hate speech.
