Anti-Feminist Discourse in the Nordic Resistance Movement: A Critical Discourse Analysis of The Nordic Frontier Podcast

This thesis examines how anti-feminist discourse is conveyed in the Nordic Frontier podcast, produced by members of the Nordic Resistance Movement. Furthermore, it analyses how these narratives relate to the movement’s broader gender ideology. This research uses a qualitative case study and applies Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to four podcast episodes that focus on feminism, gender roles and masculinity. Eight recurring discursive strategies were identified, ranging from overt ridicule and sexualisation to more implicit expressions such as sarcasm and the idealisation of masculinity. Feminists are depicted as irrational, dangerous or disruptive, while masculinity is portrayed as the foundation of stability and order. The analysis further shows how this discourse presents inequality as instinctive and grounded in nature, which serves to obscure its ideological character. This thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of how gender operates within far-right extremism and highlights the importance of recognising anti-feminism as a central ideological element.
