De invloed van kindermishandeling op state- en trait-angst: De modererende rol van geslacht

Childhood maltreatment is strongly associated with psychopathology, including elevated levels of anxiety. Although previous studies found higher anxiety levels in women compared to men, further research can deepen the understanding on these gender-related differences. This study investigates the influence of experiencing childhood maltreatment and gender on levels of anxiety. This study divides anxiety in two separate types of anxiety, called state and trait anxiety. Young-adults (N=129) between the ages of 18 and 24 completed two questionnaires, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). To answer the research question, four multiple regression analyses were performed: two on state anxiety and two on trait anxiety.
