In deze scriptie worden drie passages uit Plato's Phaedrus onderzocht die in de secundaire literatuur worden geïnterpreteerd als allusies op gedichten van Sappho. Welke functie heeft haar liefdespoëzie in Plato's dialoog? Welke rol is er voor Sappho weggelegd in zijn tekst, die toch over een veel verhevenere vorm van liefde handelt dan waar de liefdesdichteres over schreef?
