From Margin to Meaning: Queer and BIPOC Presence in Anne with an “E” as a Mirror of Modern Values

This thesis argues that TV adaptation Anne with an "E" significantly departs from the white-centered, heteronormative framework of L.M. Montgomery’s original Anne Shirley novels by reimagining the story through a 21st-century lens that centers queer and BIPOC (specifically Black and Indigenous Canadian) identities, using inclusive narrative strategies to foreground historically marginalized voices and reframe canonical literature for contemporary audiences.
