This thesis discusses three novels by the renowned Russian-speaking author Mikita Franko, whose ground-breaking texts for young adults venture into themes and topics that few writers have dared to address. Using a methodology grounded in queer theory, this thesis analyzes how Franko represents queerness in the Russian context across three of his most famous novels. The thesis concludes that both Franko and his depictions of queer characters have undergone a transformation, from portraying restricted, normative views of queerness to embodying a radical, boundary-shattering queer positionality against the traditional, heteronormative structures in contemporary Russian society.
