O crioulo na comunidade cabo-verdiana na Holanda: uma língua em extinção? As atitudes em relação à transmissão e à manutenção do crioulo cabo-verdiano nos Países Baixos.

- Este estudo tende a formar uma possível imagem do cabo-verdiano da segunda geração na Holanda, a partir do uso da língua de herança feito por esses jovens, a importância dada à transmissão aos filhos, e a influência do conhecimento da língua para a identidade cabo-verdiana. O instrumento usado para esta pesquisa é um questionário sociolinguístico, que teve a participação de 194 cabo-verdianos da segunda geração, dos quais 168 jovens com ambos pais cabo-verdianos, 15 com só o pai cabo-verdiano e 11 com só a mãe cabo-verdiana. O estudo tencionou responder as perguntas: i) qual é o papel do crioulo no dia-a-dia do cabo-verdiano da segunda geração, ii) qual é a atitude em relação à transmissão do crioulo aos filhos, ou seja a terceira geração e iii) como é que a língua se relaciona com a identidade dessa segunda geração? Os resultados do estudo sugerem que a atitude dos jovens cabo-verdianos em relação à língua e à cultura de herança e a transmissão dessa é bastante positiva. No entanto isto não se reflete na prática do uso da língua crioula no dia-a-dia e nomeadamente com os filhos, a terceira geração. A prática parece não contribuir para a transmissão e a manutenção da língua crioula na comunidade cabo-verdiana na Holanda.
