- Note
- Being from India, and having studied Latin America in the BA International Studies Program, I was curious to do my thesis on Brazil. I noticed India and Brazil have similar histories, economic structure as well as social issues. In the future I want to bridge the gap between Latin America and India, as both regions can mutually benefit from each other. In the context of social issues, I noticed parallels between the Favelados and the Slum communities in India. By assessing the Brazilian response to social exclusion, I wanted to see what India can take from it, in order to deal with their social exclusion issues. This is what inspired me to write my thesis, and in the future I hope to write more comparative essays between India and Latin American countries.
