The Economic Affects of Infrastructure Investment in Brazil
- Author
- Verhaagen, Maria-Pia
- Note
- The thesis takes the form of a critical literature review, but also draws statistics from port data. A comparison is made to the Port of Singapore, which highlights how infrastructure can be crucial for port development. The thesis is split into three main parts. The first part is a literature review analysing the work already existing regarding the link between economic development and infrastructure investment. This is followed by a case study on the Port of Santos and the most obvious shortcomings in the ports infrastructure. The last part gives recommendations on how to tackle these shortcomings and evaluated wether public or private funding would be more beneficial.
