Realist Critique on the American Use of Military Force
- Author
- Montvai, Dávid
- Note
- This thesis places the writings of Hans Morgenthau and John Mearsheimer in the context of the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, respectively. It engages with the assumption often made by analysts (and some critical theorists) that realists are warmongers. Morgenthau and Mearsheimer famously opposed these wars, and a deeper exploration of their writings in this thesis helps to bring forth the nuances of realist thinking. This thesis also engages with the question of morality in realist thinking and navigates through its theoretical shades.
