A systematic comparison of vocabulary based on literature (Chad) and fieldwork (Sudan) reveals a standard realization [g] for both varieties, while the realization [k] is present in specific semantic fields in both countries For Sudan the most important sub-standard realizations is [ġ], while it is absent in Chad.
