Deze invloed wordt het Magnetism Induced by Proximity of Adsorbed Chiral molecules effect (MIPAC-effect) genoemd en is één van de drie verschijningsvormen van het Chirality-Induced Spin Selectivity effect (CISS-effect): de magnetisatie ondergaat een verandering in een richting die afhankelijk is van de links- of rechtshandigheid van de chirale moleculen. Dit verschijnsel heeft nog geen sluitend kader, maar kan grote maatschappelijke impact hebben op het gebied van spintronische apparaten. Meer onderzoek naar het MIPAC-effect is dus van belang. Deze invloed op de magnetisatie wordt in dit onderzoek met SQUID-metingen waargenomen in de vorm van een verschuiving van de hystereselus van een kobaltfilm, die wordt omsloten door twee goudlagen en rust op een substraat van een siliciumwafer. Dit onderzoek laat dan ook onder enig voorbehoud de aanwezigheid van het MIPAC-effect onder deze omstandigheden zien.Show less

This production method features a new, standardised, sample layout with integrated metal contacts and a back gate. A large part of the sample production is outsourced commercially. This leads to mass production yielding more reliable samples. We have also introduced some new pieces of equipment that make the rest of the sample production both easier and more efficient. Additionally, we have proposed a design for a new sample holder. This will allow us to perform the experiment in cryogenic environments.Show less

In order to do so, both an array of six and...Show moreIn research project, it was examined if an array of six receive coils for MRI has a higher SNR than an array of two receive coils with the same surface. In order to do so, both an array of six and an array of two coils were built. The coils were impedance matched and tuned at a frequency of 298.10 MHz. Q-spoiling circuits were used to detune the coils during the transmission of the RF pulses. To decouple the coils, the method of inductive decoupling was used. To compare the two arrays, low tip angle gradient echo images of phantom bottles were acquired. The conclusion of these images was that an array of six receive coils for MRI indeed had a higher SNR than an array of two receive coils with the same surface.Show less
