Show less

It deals with the auxiliaries 'to be' and 'to have' in four types of sentences in which the auxiliaries are in the explicit form: in the main simple ones, in the explicit subordinates, in the dependent and in the independent interrogatives. It is shown that the auxiliary moves to the complementizer phrase in Dutch in the main simple active sentences and in the polar interrogative sentences, but not in Italian, where the auxiliary remains in the inflectional phrase. In explicit subordinate sentences and indirect interrogative sentences, the differences between Italian and Dutch in the linear word order are due to syntactic differences in the relationship between head and complement within the verb phrase.Show less

We will take a look at the cultural significance of the objects and their ability to adapt to a different cultural background, focusing at the same time on their narrative qualities.Show less
