For this, three movies focusing on child-custody-rights of women have been selected to analyze the connectedness of cinema with society and law.Show less

Show less

The Malian conflict, which started in 2012, saw the activation of the African-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA) as well as a French military intervention called Operation Serval. However, in July 2013 AFISMA was superseded by a UN-led military operation while the French mission remained functional. This case study reflects the issue regarding the lack of African agency. By using an analytical framework of power in international politics, this study seeks to understand this dynamic as it pertains to the case study. The findings show that France, via a Realist understanding, is the primary power in the conflict out to seek its own security. Simultaneously, African agency is not realisable due to the inherent inferiority of African institutions compared to the UN and France.Show less

Show less

This research aims to analyse the situation of this group in urban China and look into the effects of the hukou Household registration system on income inequality. This is done by using the theories of institutional discrimination and Durlauf's theory on persistent income inequality. In particular, this thesis researches inequality in job and educational systems and the effects institutional discrimination, exacerbated by the hukou registration system, has on rural-to-urban migrant labour. As a result, this thesis' findings point at the major role which institutional discrimination plays in causing income inequality for rural-to-urban migrant labour in Chinese urban areas, compared to urban citizens with a local hukou status.Show less

The conclusion states that there is an apparent correspondence between the three texts, but they differ in their practicality. The Huangdi Neijing elaborates on how yin and yang work in the body and how to stay healthy using these two principles (microcosm). The Laozi and the Zhuangzi mostly use yin and yang to explain the universe and the dao (macrocosm).Show less
