There is also only so much research about the possible difference in perspective on behavioral problems of the child according to the mother and according to the social worker. The aim of this study is to examine to what extent there is a connection between the psychopathology of the mother and the behavioral problems of the child reported by the mother and reported by the involved social worker. Method: The research has been administered to fourteen mother-child pairs in a shelter for women and their involved social workers. During three research visits the mothers has been asked to fill out the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-18) regarding the mother’s psychopathology and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) regarding the behavioral problems of the child according to the mother. During these three visits the involved social worker has been asked to fill out the Teacher’s Report Form (TRF) regarding the behavioral problems of the child according to the involved social worker. Results: The results indicate no significant difference between the behavioral problems of the child reported by the mother and the behavioral problems of the child reported by the involved social worker (T1: Z = -.30, p = .77; T2: Z= -1.84, p = .07). Other results indicate a significant relationship between the mother’s psychopathology and the behavioral problems of the child reported by the mother during the first research visit (Rs = .65, p<.05), but a non- significant relationship during the second research visit (Rs = .41, p = .21). Results also show no significant relationship between the mother’s psychopathology and the behavioral problems of the child reported by the involved social worker (T1: Rs = -.10, p = .80; T2: Rs = .03, p = .92). Conclusion: The behavioral problems of the child reported by the mother and the involved social worker do not differ. Also, there is no unambiguous result when it comes to the relationship between the mother’s psychopathology and the behavioral problems that are reported by the mother. Since there is a positive and not positive relationship measured. Lastly, the results do not show a positive effect of the mother’s psychopathology on the behavioral problems of the child reported by the social worker.Show less

Understanding the relationships between siblings and the effects they have on a child's development is crucial (Cicirelli, 2013; Yeh & Lempers, 2004). While plenty research exists on the quality of the sibling relationship, less attention has been paid to the contribution of the family system to this relationship (Feinberg, et al., 2011; Brody, 1998). Family systems are structures that contain positions and roles within families (Pfeiffer & In-Albon, 2022), the family size, birth order and the gender of siblings (Walęcka-Matyja, 2016). The present study researches the relationship between aspects within the family system and the quality of the sibling relationship in early adulthood. These aspects are family size, birth order, whether or not they have divorced parents, whether or not they share the same household and the received emotional support of a sibling. This study includes 108 participants between the ages of 18 and 25. They completed an online questionnaire regarding the sibling relationship and the family system. The quality of the sibling relationship is measured using the Lifespan Sibling Relationship Scale. Results show that the received emotional support of a sibling predicts a higher quality of the sibling relationship. Similar results were found for birth order: being a second born predicts a higher prospective quality of the sibling relationship. Furthermore, no direct relationship was found between the other aspects of the family system and the quality of the sibling relationship. However, given the results that were found, insures us it can be concluded that sibling relationships cannot be viewed without considering the context of the larger system (Cox, 2010; Pfeiffer & In-Albon, 2022). In addition there is a recommendation for more research since not all aspects of the family system have been included in this study.Show less

However, many inconsistent results are found. On top of that, the information on how individuals with psychopathy could be helped optimally, is still limited. The current study investigated the relationship between intelligence and the three domains of psychopathy: the affective, interpersonal, and behavioral dimension. A second topic of interest was the possible moderation effect of conduct disorder on the relationship between intelligence and the three dimensions of psychopathy. A sample of adolescents with and without conduct disorder was used to answer the question whether there is a relationship between intelligence and the three domains of psychopathy and whether conduct disorder moderates these three relationships (N = 89, Mage = 17.1, SDage = 1.33). The participants were asked to fill in the Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory, the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia to decide if the participants were meeting the criteria for the classification of conduct disorder or not, and to complete some tasks of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (third edition) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (third edition) to estimate the general intelligence. To answer the research question six regression analyses were performed. Socioeconomic status was considered as a control variable within every regression analysis. After performing the regression analyses only one result was found to be significant: the moderation effect of intelligence X conduct disorder on the relationship between intelligence and the affective dimension of psychopathy. There appeared to be a crossover interaction in which the relationship between intelligence and the affective dimension of psychopathy is positive when someone has the classification of conduct disorder and in which the relationship between intelligence and the affective dimension of psychopathy is negative when someone doesn’t have conduct disorder.Show less

Show less
