As such, they...Show moreThe authors of the Vita sancti Guthlaci, Guthlac A and Guthlac B presented Guthlac as God’s chosen warrior by applying heroic concepts and imagery to their narratives of the saint. As such, they have reconciled the Christian faith and Germanic heroic culture. Nevertheless, each author has chosen his own blend of heroic imagery and Christian elements in his text. Moreover, each text differs in the amount of heroic imagery. Despite the differences in the amount of heroic imagery per text, the analyses of the Guthlac texts show that there is more heroic imagery in each text than most scholars have claimed to be.Show less
