Recent investigations suggested that the toxic agents in neurodegenerative diseases are oligomers, instead of fibrils. Therefore, in this project we first study the aggregation process of amyloid peptides. We use Circular Dichroism to characterize the components of the peptides samples during the aggregation process and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance to determine the amount of aggregates. On the other hand, the dipolar interaction of electron spins is the most reliable indicator of distances in biological systems. However, EPR measurements are usually done with frozen samples instead of ones in physiological environment. Hence, here we also determine the impact of the dipolar interaction on the EPR spectra at room temperature using a model biradical molecule.Show less
