Schoolbooks on Dutch history written by the catholic fraternity, the Fraters van Tilburg, are used as a case study. The thesis argues that the fraters used their history books to try to reconcile the catholic and the national identity, and that the regional identity was mainly seen as an obstacle in this attempt.Show less
