Deze spiegels diende als huwelijkscadeau en de gravures geflecteerde dit met en voorkeur voor mythologische scènes die betrekking hebben tot de liefde en het huwelijk. Opvallend is echter dat de gravures niet enkel de gelukzalige liefde tonen, maar juist de voorkeur geven aan de liefdesverhalen met een tragische afloop. De rituelen verbonden aan het Etruskische huwelijk en de begrafenis geven echter een interessante inkijk in de cultuur die dit soort bijzondere objecten voortbrengt.
