Correspondingly, Porphyry was not ahead of his time by morally advocating for vegetarianism; the modern animal emancipation movement is merely playing catch-up. I argue that a proper understanding of these ancient ashes is required to make the phoenix that is animal emancipation fly high.Show less

It has been suggested that these two concepts should be dealt with simultaneously. The current thesis aims to find out whether animal ethics are, in general, sustainable. After formulating a general contemporary perspective on animal ethics, that includes both utilitarian and deontological elements, and giving a general definition of the concept of sustainability, the paper concludes that animal ethics are, overall, very sustainable.Show less
