It addresses the questions whether Vasari had ulterior motives for his criticism and whether this was consistent with his opinions on the works of other Italian and North European artists and his own work. It will be concluded that such consistency indeed exists and that scholarly writers have thusfar been too harsh on Vasari for accusing him of deliberate biass and framing Pontormo negatively.Show less
