The study analysed whether the changes in migration law have effectively improved the vulnerable group of unaccompanied children and adolescents. The evaluation on the practice of the implementation of the reform was done through a combination of semi-structured interviews with professionals in the field of migration in Mexico and desk-study. The interview results were analysed through the framework of the Best Interest of the Child Model (BIC-Model). The research reveals that while the reforms were aimed at improving protection, gaps in implementation have caused ongoing risks for unaccompanied children, and some situations can be labelled as legal violence. The findings highlight the need for continuous evaluation and adjustment of migration policies to guarantee that they truly meet the best interests of migrant children and adolescents.Show less
