Om een meer doelgerichte...Show moreIn Leiden hebben buurtbewoners veel last van huishoudelijk afval dat naast de container geplaatst wordt. Dit heeft schadelijke gevolgen voor zowel mens als natuur. Om een meer doelgerichte interventie te ontwikkelen voor het probleem van bijplaatsen van afval naast de container in Leiden, is onderzocht wat er voor antecedenten voor het gedrag zijn. Met behulp van de Theory of Planned Behavior is er een online vragenlijst gemaakt. Door middel van de vragenlijst zijn de variabelen attitude, intentie, gedrag, milieukennis, collectivisme en buurtcohesie onderzocht. Er werd een significant verband gevonden voor milieukennis en buurtcohesie met attitude. Er werd geen significant verband gevonden voor attitude met intentie. Verder is er exploratief bekeken of collectivisme een modererend effect heeft op de relatie tussen buurtcohesie en attitude, dit was niet het geval. Het model van de Theory of Planned Behavior kan in de context van het bijplaatsen van afval in Leiden worden uitgebreid met de factoren buurtcohesie en milieukennis. Het gebruik van de theorie als het gaat om afvalmanagement wordt door dit onderzoek ondersteund. In de praktijk betekent dit dat interventies gericht op het veranderen van de attitude deze twee antecedenten positief zullen moeten beïnvloeden wil het de houding tegenover het plaatsen van afval in de daarvoor bestemde container positief veranderen.Show less

Toch blijkt in de praktijk de ouderbetrokkenheid in het onderwijs bij sommige groepen...Show moreOuderbetrokkenheid in het onderwijs lijkt een positieve invloed te hebben op de ontwikkeling van de leerling. Toch blijkt in de praktijk de ouderbetrokkenheid in het onderwijs bij sommige groepen vaak nog (te) laag. OOK Pedagogische Expertise Groep (OOK) ziet dezelfde constatering in hun training ‘’OOK zo omgaan met elkaar’’, waarin leerlingen leren te reflecteren op het eigen gedrag en bewust te worden van het effect van het eigen gedrag op een ander. OOK heeft ons benaderd om te onderzoeken hoe de ouderbetrokkenheid binnen deze training verhoogt kan worden. Dit onderzoek komt tegemoet aan deze vraag door te kijken naar de samenhang tussen de attitude van de leerkrachten over ouderbetrokkenheid, het schoolbeleid omtrent ouderbetrokkenheid en de ouderbetrokkenheid in groep 5 tot en met 8 in het primair onderwijs. Hiervoor is een vragenlijst afgenomen onder leerkrachten die minimaal één dag per week zelfstandig voor de klas staan. Na het uitvoeren van verschillende regressieanalyses komt naar voren dat de attitude van de leerkracht en het schoolbeleid niet samenhangen met de ouderbetrokkenheid in het onderwijs. Hierna is exploratief onderzoek uitgevoerd, waaruit blijkt dat duidelijke afspraken maken binnen het schoolteam én communicatieproblemen tussen leerkracht en ouder ten opzichte van ouderbetrokkenheid in groep 5 tot en met 8 belangrijk kunnen zijn voor de praktijk. Op basis van deze bevindingen zijn de aanbevelingen gedaan aan OOK om effectief gebruik te maken van nieuwsbrieven en aandacht te besteden aan communicatievaardigheden van de leerkracht. The study has a two (morality: low x...Show moreThis study examines the effect of brand morality and brand competence on explicit and implicit brand attitude and whether identification mediates this effect. The study has a two (morality: low x high) by two (competence: low x high) factorial experimental between-subjects design. The experiment was conducted with the Qualtrics Domain of Leiden University. The results of four ANOVA’s showed that both brand morality and brand competence affect consumers’ explicit and implicit brand attitude, with a larger effect of brand morality. The first regression analysis showed that identification influences the effect of both brand morality and brand competence on explicit brand attitude, with a slightly larger effect of brand morality. The second regression analysis showed that identification influences the effect of brand competence on implicit brand attitude but does not influence the effect of brand morality on implicit brand attitude. Theoretical and practical implications, limitations, and suggestions for further research are discussed.Show less

This was explored through a survey that combined quantitative and qualitative questions concerning the childrens’ engagement with English, self-reported proficiency and opinions on English inside and outside the classroom. The children with a positive attitude towards English engaged more with the language in private leisure time and usually perceived themselves to understand English decently. In contrast, the children with a negative attitude towards English avoided the language more in out-of-school settings and usually reported having difficulty understanding English. The attitude a child has towards English does influence the child’s engagement with and acquisition of the language, in spite of the fast amount of incidental exposure to English on the internet. Studying this aspect of language learning can help teachers to better understand why some children struggle to learn a new language and some children do not. It can also offer a new perspective on the methods of language learning in regards to using out-of-school sources, such as Youtube.Show less

Based on survey research, this experimental study...Show moreThis research has the goal to uncover the effects of framing on the attitude of EU citizens and residents towards climate-induced migration (CIM). Based on survey research, this experimental study investigates how different framings of an average family from Mozambique moving to the EU because of environmental catastrophes impacts respondents’ attitudes towards their acceptance in the EU. More precisely, it studies the effects of the human rights, and safety and security frames. As an introduction to this study, I provide a literature review to define climate-induced migration, reveal existing framings of this specific type of migration and study which characteristics of migrants influence attitudes and in what ways. This is followed by an explanation of the survey and research designs. I then analyze the data collected thanks to the survey before concluding and discussing the findings and limitations of the study. This research uncovers that framing has no effect on EU citizens’ and residents’ attitude towards climate-induced migration.Show less

Knowing the characteristics and attitudes of...Show moreBackground: Serious games for mental health purposes is a young but rapidly growing concept, however, implementation in clinical practice lags behind. Knowing the characteristics and attitudes of the users, mental health professionals, will aid in seeking the optimal design and more efficient implementation. Objective: We wanted to gain more insight on what professionals want from the games, and if knowledge about games or practicing different therapeutic modalities is related to attitude on serious games. Method: We surveyed 123 MPHs via a cross-sectional online survey about technology usage, gaming knowledge, and attitudes towards serious games. Data were analysed using a t-test, chi-square test, exploratory factor analysis, and an ANOVA. Results: The results showed that overall interest to implement serious games with their own clients was high (75.6%), and perceived benefits outweighed perceived disadvantages, but current implementation rate was very low (.8%). The biggest reason for not wanting to use serious games was lack of knowledge (14.6%). Knowledge about gaming was significantly positively correlated to overall attitude, and with willingness to implement. There was no significant relationship between any specific therapeutic modality and the overall attitude towards serious games, which contradicts results from previous studies. Conclusion: Knowledge about games increases the attitude and willingness to try serious games with clients. Most mental health professionals reported to have beginner knowledge, thus educating them about (serious) gaming could help with implementation and adherence. More research is needed to map out why the professionals who are interested have not yet tried serious games. User-centred design (UCD) should be widely implemented when developing serious games for mental health purposes.Show less

Therefore 226 teachers from various schools in the Netherlands did a questionnaire. Furthermore ten teachers from this sample were interviewed. The subjects of the questionnaires and the interviews were about the attitude towards the use of educational ICT, the way ICT was used, the degree of ICT use and the performance of carrying out ICT support tasks. Data were analyzed through various quantitative analyses, and qualitative analysis. The analyses showed that there is a difference between young and older teachers in the use of educational ICT. The young teachers have used the same amount of educational ICT and performed as many educational tasks as older teachers, but in a different way and with a different attitude towards the use of educational ICT. Consequently, the attitude towards ICT should change along with the innovations in ICT. Thereby all the education in the field of ICT simultaneously will be gathered simultaneously.Show less
