Following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which led to an ongoing violent war, media outlets have played a crucial role in disseminating information, particularly through platforms like Instagram. The younger audience of the platform tends to have a more pro-Palestinian perspective compared to older generations. By analysing both the visuals and texts of Instagram posts from these major news organisations, the study finds that the New York Times frames its content in a way that is more pro-Israeli, the BBC presents a more balanced, yet slightly pro-Israeli view, and Al Jazeera offers the most balanced coverage, however, leaning towards a pro-Palestinian perspective. These findings are consistent with the outlets’ other news content, such as (online) news articles and broadcasts, indicating that they do not specifically cater to their younger audience on Instagram.Show less
