Following the occurrence of the joint march in the 2018...Show moreIn my research I conduct an analysis of inter-Korean relations before, during and after the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Following the occurrence of the joint march in the 2018 Winter Olympic opening ceremony between North and South Korea, my research attempts to determine whether sports diplomacy has contributed to improved relations on the Korean Peninsula. This covers a period from Pyeongchang's successful bid in 2011 to the present day in order to determine whether sports diplomacy has directly affected inter-Korean relations or whether external factors have had greater influence. A general conclusion is also considered in regards to the effectiveness of sports diplomacy as a foreign policy tool for divided nations.Show less
