This study includes VOT measurements of one Dutch child named Robin, and one English child named Naima. The differences between their speech developments were studied and discussed. The hypothesis is tested that the voice-onset timing values of initial plosives have an initial fixed universal value in young children’s speech productions. However, the results showed that the hypothesis was incorrect. There is no initial fixed universal value in young children’s speech productions.Show less
