It deals with the auxiliaries 'to be' and 'to have' in four types of sentences in which the auxiliaries are in the explicit form: in the main simple ones, in the explicit subordinates, in the dependent and in the independent interrogatives. It is shown that the auxiliary moves to the complementizer phrase in Dutch in the main simple active sentences and in the polar interrogative sentences, but not in Italian, where the auxiliary remains in the inflectional phrase. In explicit subordinate sentences and indirect interrogative sentences, the differences between Italian and Dutch in the linear word order are due to syntactic differences in the relationship between head and complement within the verb phrase.Show less

Nel primo capitolo viene descritta la conservazione e perdita lessicale di questi due gruppi nel passaggio dal latino all'italiano. Particolarità negli sviluppi delle parole conservate nell'italiano vengono trattate nel secondo e nel terzo capitolo.Show less
